An immigrant drama shifting between scenic mountain views and city impressions: During a hiking tour with the American millionaire heiress Lilian, daring lumberjack Tonio Feuersinger and his friend Jörg are surprised by an avalanche. Lilian and Tonio survive, but Jörg dies in the snowslide. Nevertheless, Tonio’s lust for adventure remains untamed, and soon he leaves his native home – and his faithful love Barbl – for America. Arriving in New York, he wants to visit Lilian and her father. But since the two have not returned from their world trip yet, Tonio has to find his way alone in a foreign and hostile place.
